Where the trivia comes from

HeroesQuest's trivia bank draws on several free and open sources, plus our own hand-written questions. Every source that ships a question verbatim or lightly edited is credited below, per its license — most of these are CC BY-SA 4.0 or Apache-2.0, and Wikidata's own facts are CC0 (no attribution legally required, credited anyway).

Attribution

  • OpenTDB rows (verbatim/lightly edited): Question data via Open Trivia Database (opentdb.com), CC BY-SA 4.0.
  • ARC rows (verbatim/lightly edited): Contains data from the AI2 Reasoning Challenge (ARC), © Allen Institute for AI, CC BY-SA 4.0 (allenai.org).
  • OpenBookQA: Contains data from OpenBookQA, Allen Institute for AI, Apache License 2.0 (github.com/allenai/OpenBookQA).
  • TruthfulQA: Contains data from TruthfulQA (Lin, Hilton & Evans), Apache License 2.0.
  • Wikidata-derived: Facts sourced from Wikidata (wikidata.org), CC0 — no attribution legally required, credited anyway.
  • Everything else: hand-written by the HeroesQuest team.

Where the bar data comes from

The bars on the map and in the directory are imported from public sources (NY State Liquor Authority, Overture Maps, Foursquare Open Source Places) — their attribution is on its own page: Where the bar data comes from.
